West Bromwich Albion has given their manager Alan Pardew two games to save his job at the Hawthorns. According to recent reports in the English media, the English boss’ future at the West Midlands club is in major doubt after the ‘Taxi-gate’ incident with the West Brom owner enraged about the incident and the recent poor performances, which have rooted them to the bottom of the Premier League.
Some of the Baggies players, which included Gareth Barry, Jonny Evans, Boaz Myhill and Jake Livermore, were involved in an alleged theft of a taxi during their recent training camp in Barcelona. A Chinese source revealed, “Mr Lai is furious.
“In China, discipline is a basic skill, the minimum required to be successful in any profession.
“He cannot believe that a group of players who are supposed to be all pulling their weight in getting out of trouble in the league cannot stay out of trouble off the field.
“It has raised serious concerns about Pardew’s leadership because he is the man who should be setting an example.
“And it seems unbelievable that he has even allowed there to be a situation where four senior members of his squad can act like that.
“Lai is not a patient man. He expects results.
“He won’t be sacking Pardew on this issue alone.
With Alan Pardew’s future at the Hawthorns uncertain, let’s take a look at three potential alternatives for the West Midlands team to consider in the near future.
Slaven Bilic
The 49-year-old former West Ham United manager is currently available and could to be a long-term solution for the Baggies if they are looking to recruit someone with prior Premier League experience while also having a lot of potentials. The Croatian boss could turn out to a shrewd appointment if West Brom opts for his services.
Paolo Di Canio
Another 49-year-old manager who is currently out of a job but has prior Premier League experience from his time at the Stadium of Light with Sunderland. Back in the 2012-13 campaign, the Italian took charge of 13 matches for the Black Cats. West Brom could choose to bring him back to the top tier of English football as his unorthodox managerial style might spring some results out of their underperforming players in the coming months as they look to save themselves from being relegated.
Mark Hughes
The ex-Stoke City boss might be an ideal fit for the Baggies going into the future. He knows the Premier League well both as a manager and as a player which can help them in their cause to bounce back next season if they fail to save themselves this term.
