Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur came up against European giants Juventus for their round of 16 clash in the UEFA Champions League clash and did extremely well to walk away with a 2-2 draw in Turin. In the domestic league, Spurs are falling behind the chasing pack with Manchester City already gone far off and Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United looking to occupy the next three spots. They, however, are in the middle of a fantastic unbeaten run and have collected 7 points from their last 3 games against Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool away.
Tottenham’s European form has been in top-notch this season. Things in Europe have been very different from what was expected when the groups were listed. In what was considered to be one of the toughest groups, Tottenham proved everyone wrong by sitting pretty at the top of the table toppling the likes of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to the post. They were the only unbeaten side in the group. They dispatched Apoel Nicosia and Borrusia Dortmund before the doubleheader against Real Madrid.
In what was considered to be Pochettino’s first big European test, Tottenham came out in flying colours. They fought Real Madrid to an evenly contested 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu and their delight doubled at the Wembley when Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur surprised the world by beating Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. The vibrant English side took on the European Champions and ended the night with a 3-1 victory against the reigning Champions.
Tottenham Hotspur now have a relatively easy clash against Rochdale in the FA Cup. With top sides like Chelsea and Manchester United already through, Tottenham will want to join them in the last eight. The young side needs to prove their mettle at the top level and the FA Cup would appear to be the easiest trophy to target.
Here is how they will look to line up.
Formation: 3-4-3
Defence
Michel Vorm will be expected in goal for Spurs. The three-man defence is likely to be Eric Dier, Juan Foyth and Jan Vertonghen.
Danny Rose is likely to play left wing back with Kieran Trippier as the right wing back.
Midfield
Victor Wanyama is likely to play alongside Harry Winks in the midfield.
Attack
Fernando Llorente will be expected to lead the line with Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko in behind as Harry Kane, who picked up an injury in their last match against Juventus, is set to be rested.
