Fenerbahce are interested in securing the services of Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos next summer. According to recent reports in the Turkish press, Aykut Kocaman’s side are looking to recruit the Colombian youngster at the end of the current season. The Turkish club’s transfer committee are monitoring young talents, most notably strikers, and they are eager to add Morelos to their ranks. The 21-year old has also reportedly impressed Fenerbahce boss Aykut Kocaman with their club’s board already enquiring about the forward’s availability and Rangers’ valuation of the player.
Some sources are claiming that the Gers are currently asking for a fee in the region of €1m for their prized asset, and talks between the two clubs are set to progress over the coming months. The South American ace has been in sensational form this season for the Glaswegian giants after finding the back of the net 15 times during this campaign. It would come as a big surprise if Graeme Murty lets him leave the club next summer. At €1m, the potential signing of Morelos would be a bargain for the Turkish giants and could prove to be a shrewd piece of business for them.
Although, they need to ship out some of their foreign players to make room for the Colombian, yet the impending departure of Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen back to the Premier League could open the door for the Rangers striker to make a switch to Turkey.
Rangers are currently occupying third place in the Scottish Premiership table with a tally of 49 points in 26 league outings with just three points separating them from second-placed Aberdeen. The Teddy Bears are still a massive 11 points behind crosstown rivals and league leaders Celtic going into the final stretch of the season. The potential departure of Morelos could leave them significantly weakened ahead of the new campaign.
The striker has been their top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 11 goals during the course of this campaign. The Gers can’t afford to lose a forward of his quality unless they can find a suitable replacement for him.
However, it will be a tough ask for them to keep hold of their prized asset with some top European clubs waiting to pounce on his signature next summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Morelos and whether he ends up leaving the Ibrox Stadium in favour of a move to Turkey in the near future.
