In the sphere of professional football transfer rumours keep on circulating based on the tiniest hints of uncertainty. Speculation is ripe and more often than not, the rumours fizzle out in the dust of gossip columns and shady journalism. Harry Kane is a name that has popped up in recent times with Real Madrid the ring leader to land him in the near future. However, the Tottenham Hotspur striker was asked about his future and according to Diariogol he was quoted saying, “I have another offer.”
The other offer that he failed to disclose is predicted to be none other than Manchester City themselves. Pep Guardiola is already an advocate of the 24-year-old forward having labelled Tottenham – the “Harry Kane team”. While Mauricio Pochettino holds no grudge against the City manager, it clearly exemplifies Pep’s perception of Harry Kane.
The Englishman’s game has caught the eyes of many over the past couple of seasons and the current one is proving to be his best one yet. He has netted the ball 32 times in all around 33 appearances and has already surpassed Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goals scored in the 2017 calendar year.
Kane also revealed his meteoric rise to such a high stature from the grunts of rejection at a young stage. He was only released from the Arsenal youth ranks when he was 8 and 12 years later he showed up with a chip on his shoulder to prove a point while playing for the North London rivals.
The drive and the determination have seen him through the best and worst of his career and building such a prestigious one at just 24 is quite laudable. If one were to understand the man he is today, he/she would think Tottenham has a lot to do with it.
He dreams of winning the Premier League title with the Spurs only and judging by the team that Pochettino has allocated, Kane might just be able to do so over the next couple of years.
But can they do it over Manchester City? Pep’s side are cruising in the league with a 16-point lead. The exorbitant investment strategy has clearly worked so far and the rest of the title-contenders including Tottenham has been left far behind.
Every other team have struggled to match strides with City this season and people are left thinking whether Pep and his expansive plans will continue to get the better out everybody else next season as well. After working so hard to make an illustrious career, Kane is not the persona to take the shortcut and team up with title rivals. And even if he does, how much will he cost in such an inflated transfer market? Neymar’s £200m price tag will most probably be eclipsed and the bosses at Etihad will have to shell out all their wealth to get the generational talent.
Kane has still got ways to go before he can reach legendary status and establish himself as one of the world’s best. While he is in the process of doing so, it is highly unlikely that he will choose to do so for any other Premier League team. The White and Blue crest runs deep in his veins and Pep will be better off looking for the next “Harry Kane” rather than the current one.
