AS Roma are looking to offer a ‘lifetime contract’ to their midfielder Alessandro Florenzi in the near future. According to recent reports coming out of Italy, the Italian midfielder is set to be offered a long-term deal that will help him stay at Roma for the rest of his playing career. The Serie A outfit have made it their top priority to tie up the Italian international on a new deal. His current deal with the club is set to expire in the summer of 2019 and now, the club wants him to stay for the rest of his career at the Stadio Olimpico.
They consider Florenzi as the next club icon along the prestigious heights of Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. However, a major stumbling block for Roma is that the club needs to make sure that they abide by Financial Fair Play rules before they can offer Florenzi a bumper new contract. It is being reported that the potential new deal would see the Italian earn in the region of €3m per season, making him one of the highest earners at the Rome-based club.
Some sources have claimed recently that the Italian midfielder has been subject to interest from a number of Premier League clubs which includes Manchester United and Chelsea. Florenzi is highly versatile who primarily operates as a central midfielder but can also play on the right wing or as a right-back.
With Florenzi set to stay at AS Roma for the rest of his playing career, let’s take a look at three alternatives for the Red Devils to consider.
Allan
The 27-year-old midfielder has been in sensational form for Napoli this season and has put in some dazzling displays in the Serie A. The Brazilian has featured in 34 matches for the Italian side, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions. He can be an ideal fit at Old Trafford and will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s midfield options if the Manchester club decides to opt for his services in the near future.
Marcelo Brozovic
The 25-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for Inter Milan this season. The Croatian has played in 20 matches for the Serie A giants, scoring 3 goals and making 4 assists in all competitions. The addition of Brozovic should add more quality in the United midfield if they can convince the player to make a move to the Premier League.
Jack Wilshere
The 26-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and has a wealth of Premier League experience under his belt. However, the English talent has been plagued with injuries all throughout his career. The Red Devils could take a chance on him as he would be a low-risk investment capable of producing the goods in crucial matches.
