It was a story of two halves for Leicester City against a rampant Manchester City side as the Foxes were beaten 5-1 on the night despite going in at 1-1 during the half-time interval. The players were left ragged by the Aguero show but the scoreline does not reflect their true effort on the night. Here is how they performed.
Kasper Schmeichel: 4
It is always highlighted when a keeper makes a mistake. However, the mistake he committed for the fourth goal was absolutely abysmal and he could have done without it on a night he conceded 5.
Aleksandar Dragovic: 6.5
Did excellently well in the first half and was rock solid. In fact one of Leicester’s better performers in the first half.
Harry Maguire: 5.5
The Englishman has earned quite a name for himself this season with his solid defensive displays. He will be unsatisfied with the way his defensive abilities collapsed in the initial period of the second half. Was rightly punished by the ruthless Sergio Aguero.
Christian Fuchs: 6.5
Excellent at high pressing to help Leicester’s cause and was responsible for winning the ball for Vardy’s goal.
Marc Albrighton: 5.5
Played out of his natural position and it was evident he was struggling to keep up with the City attacks.
Adrien Silva: 5.5
Decent outing for the newcomer, taken off at halftime as Leicester changed their formation.
Matty James: 5
Was harassed and hassled by City’s fluid midfield but then again that has been the case for every central midfielder in Europe this season against Pep’s team.
Wilfred Ndidi: 5.5
His intention is right but his intensity sometimes gets the better of him leading him to commit silly fouls. Still very young and can improve fast.
Ben Chilwell: 4.5
The new wing-back role clearly did not suit him and was much more comfortable even though they conceded four second half-goals.
Fousseni Diabate: 5.5
Was completely uninvolved in the game and rarely got to see the ball let alone build attacks.
Jamie Vardy: 8
Just showing his true quality as a forward. On a night when he knew he would not see the ball much, he still managed to score one. A true poacher.
Danny Simpson: 6
He was introduced to change the system to Leicester’s more favoured 4 men back style.
Riyad Mahrez: 5.5
After so much that happened on the deadline day with his failed move to Manchester City, the Algerian would have wanted to play better than he did. Did not do anything special to create a spark in the side and make City rue their missed opportunity to snap him up last month.
Kelechi Iheanacho: 5.5
The former City boy was brought on to help his team get back in the game but he waited and watched the Aguero show once again as he was reminded why exactly he never got the starting berth at the Etihad.
