AS Monaco midfielder and Manchester United target Fabinho has revealed that he wants to depart the club in search of a new adventure. According to recent reports, the Brazilian midfielder has confessed that his time in Ligue 1 is ‘coming to an end’ which will fuel even more speculation linking him with a switch to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old was an integral member of the outstanding AS Monaco side that won the Ligue 1 title last season and excelled in Monaco’s incredible run in the UEFA Champions League when his club reached the semi-finals of the European’s premier competition last year. Leonardo Jardim’s team allowed the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko to depart the club but Fabinho was retained alongside a core group which included Thomas Lemar, Radamel Falcao and Djibril Sidibe who were considered as indispensable last summer.
Manchester United were touted to secure the services of the Brazilian midfielder in the summer transfer window of 2017 and are set to be handed a major boost after Fabinho admitted that he’s ready to leave Monaco in search of a fresh adventure.
In a recent interview, Fabinho was quoted to have said, ‘My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end,’.
‘I know that that the club’s vision is to try to finish second and qualify for the Champions League, without counting on big-name players, but on young players.
‘I believe I have gone through this process. I arrived as an unknown, I made my name at the club, won things — but maybe I need a new challenge.’
Manchester United are currently sitting in second place in the Premier League table with a tally of 56 points in 26 league matches. In any other campaign, Jose Mourinho’s team would be well in contention of winning the league but the record-breaking form of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has seen them fall behind in the race for the league title. The Citizens of Manchester are leading the Premier League by a massive 13 points with the Red Devils desperately trying to play catch up with their ‘noisy neighbours’. The addition of Fabinho will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s midfield options and could help his side in their quest to bridge the gap between themselves and City in the coming years.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Fabinho and whether the Red Devils can lure him to Old Trafford in the near future.
