Leeds United have sacked their head coach Thomas Christiansen after a dismal run, which has seen them fall off the pace in the race to secure a playoff spot at the end of the season. The Peacocks are in a seven-match winless run and are yet to taste victory in 2018. Leeds were thumped 4-1 at home to Cardiff City on Saturday, two weeks after tasting defeat at the hands of Millwall at Elland Road and almost a month on from their disappointing FA Cup exit when Newport County knocked them out of England’s most premier cup competition. The West Yorkshire outfit are occupying the 10th spot in the league table, with their last victory in all competitions coming on Boxing Day last year, a 2-1 triumph at Burton Albion.
Christiansen was appointed as the Leeds United manager last summer on a two-year deal. They made a great start under the 44-year-old Dane and found themselves at the top of the Championship table two months into the new campaign. However, the Peacocks have since fallen off the pace, so much so, that they are almost out of the running to secure a top 6 finish at the end of the season. The West Midlands club have struggled in the Skybet Championship this season and are in real danger of being relegated to League One at the end of the current campaign. They are in dire need of results at the moment with their manager Steve Cotterill living on borrowed time.
