Chelsea could move in for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart if Thibaut Courtois leaves the club in the summer. According to recent reports in the English media, the English goalkeeper has been lined up to make a move to Stamford Bridge if the Blues end up losing the services of their Belgian goalkeeper Courtois. The Chelsea keeper has a season left on his current deal with the west London club and there are growing concerns that he will see out his current deal with Chelsea or might be snapped up by Real Madrid in the coming months.
Some sources are claiming that Antonio Conte’s side faces a huge battle over Thibaut Courtois’ future and could opt for Joe Hart’s signature if the Belgian departs the club. Joe Hart might be asked to step in at Stamford Bridge after his loan spell at West Ham United comes to an end. The reigning Premier League champions are willing to make Courtois, one of their highest-paid players with a deal worth £200,000-a-week plus add-ons.
However, fresh terms have not been agreed between the player and the club which has left the door open for Los Blancos to make a big-money offer after the current season comes to an end.
The Spanish giants are ready to test the water in the summer transfer window as they know the Belgian’s value will significantly fall next season. Courtois has previously represented Atletico Madrid on loan and is believed to be eager to return to the Spanish capital. The possible departure of the Belgian would leave a massive hole for Antonio Conte to fill with the Blues currently exploring the possibility of sealing a move for Joe Hart as his replacement.
The 30-year-old has fallen out of favour with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola and spent the previous campaign in Italian football with Torino before making a switch to West Ham United last summer on a season-long loan deal. However, Hart has lost his place in David Moyes’ starting eleven following a string of inconsistent performances towards the end of last year. Hart still has a year left on his current contract with the Citizens and has featured in 18 matches for the Hammers this season, conceding 33 goals and keeping only 5 clean sheets in all competitions.
It is believed that City won’t stand in the way of the English keeper if he decided to part ways with the club next summer. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Thibaut Courtois and whether Chelsea makes a move for Joe Hart’s services if the Belgian leaves the club in the near future.
