Rangers entertained Hibernian at the Ibrox Stadium earlier today in their Scottish Premiership fixture but were humbled by Neil Lennon’s troops. The Hibees took a lead just before the half-time as John McGinn engineered a superb low shot to beat Wes Foderingham. The Gers levelled the score sheet through Sean Goss’ fine free-kick.
However, James Tavernier conceded a penalty which was converted by Jamie MacLaren. Here is how we rate the home side in their clash against Hibernian.
Wes Foderingham 6/10
The custodian distributed the ball well and can hardly be blamed for getting beaten by McGinn’s superb strike or MacLaren’s penalty kick.
James Tavernier 5/10
It was a thoroughly frustrating day at the office for Tavernier as the right-back struggled to find his way past Hibernian’s defence and also conceded the penalty.
David Bates 6.5/10
Bates looked really commendable, particularly in the first-half as he dealt well with almost everything that was thrown at him.
Russell Martin 6.5/10
Alongside Bates, Martin fared pretty well and did bring a lot of resilience to the backline of the Glasgow based outfit.
Declan John 5/10
Although he galloped forward time and again, he couldn’t engineer that cutting edge in the final third. He gave away possession on plenty of occasions and needs to uplift the quality of his defensive contributions.
Sean Goss 6.5/10
Goss manoeuvred plenty of precise passes and commanded the midfield region pretty well. He did showcase immense work ethic and he could be a key player for Rangers for the rest of the season.
Jason Holt 6/10
Despite working hard in the middle, Holt couldn’t influence the tempo of the game the way he would have liked and probably should have fared in a much better manner today.
Daniel Candeias 6/10
The winger tried to construct fruitful outputs on the flanks but somehow, he was nullified in the wide areas by the defensive line of the Hibs.
Josh Windass 6/10
Operating from the no.10 slot, one could see Windass making juicy deliveries at times and then disappearing from the game completely for a major chunk of time. He really needs to cultivate some sort of consistency in his endeavours.
Jamie Murphy 7/10
Murphy catered to the offensive as well as the defensive duties quite well and cut inside from the left flank many times to test the resolve of the visiting side. He was sharp and was arguably the best hope for Rangers whilst going forward.
Alfredo Morelos 5.5/10
The striker had some really good opportunities to find the back of the net but he failed to make the most of them.

Greg Docherty 6/10
Docherty went forward time and again after he replaced Candeias for the final 20 minutes, but couldn’t muster the requisite output.
Jason Cummings 6/10
Cummings replaced Holt and did all he could to salvage a point for his side.
