Crystal Palace’s £9m bid for Alexander Sorloth has been accepted by FC Midtjylland but the transfer deal is currently on hold as the Danish outfit are looking for a replacement. With less than 10 hours left to the transfer deadline, Roy Hodgson will concede a massive loss if the deal falls through at the last minute.

The 22-year-old ace has been in prolific form this season having scored a goal 15 times and registering 9 assists. Sorloth is a versatile presence in the final third and has been shifted around by Jess Thorup this campaign. A towering 6 feet and 4 inches physique allows him to win the all-important headers inside the box while also helping him link up the attacks remarkably well with his teammates.
Sorloth started his footballing career with Eliteserien outfit, Rosenborg BK and worked his way through the club ranks to the senior team. The entirety of his career has been spent in the less illustrious leagues of Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands. His lack of experience in English football might be a cause for concern among the fans at Selhurst Park but at just 22, Sorloth has the benefit of youth to help him break into the Premier League.
However, can Palace afford to give the starlet a feasible break-in period?
Crystal Palace’s shambolic start to the 2017/18 campaign has been resurrected in recent times under the guidance of former England coach, Roy Hodgson. First team striker, Christian Benteke has registered just one goal this season and the Belgian’s incompetence is starting to frustrate the fans at Selhurst Park.
Hodgson has successfully fended off interests from the Premier League elites for the services of Wilfried Zaha and this has given the side an attacking backbone the team desperately needs. A youngster like Sorloth will be spoiled for choice with deliveries from the wide areas with Zaha and Andros Townsend on the flanks. If he can hit the ground running, Palace will be heavily favoured to finish the season well away from the relegation zone.
