Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura is expected to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur today for a reported fee in the region of £25m. According to recent reports in the English media, the Brazilian recently underwent a medical at the North London club’s Hotspur Way training ground yesterday. It is believed that the 25-year-old travelled using a Eurostar service from Paris to London ahead of his potential transfer. However, Moura’s PSG teammate Neymar has come out and criticised the way that the Parisian club has treated his fellow countryman and was quoted to have said, “I’m sad because he’s a good friend, he’s a quality player who was rarely used.”
“I think it’s very unfair. He is my brother in football.
“I wish him the best. Whatever the destination, I hope he will score a lot and he will return to the Brazilian national team.
“He’s not just a friend, he’s a very good guy. Here he could have been used a lot more but I’m not the owner of the team, not the owner of Paris.
“For me, he should never have left Paris.”
Moura has fallen down the pecking order under PSG manager Unai Emery this season and has only featured in 6 matches for the club, scoring once and creating one assist in all competitions. A potential move to Spurs could benefit his career as he looks to reignite his old form and help the North Londoners secure a top 4 finish at the end of this Premier League season.
With the Brazilian set to join Pochettino’s side today, let’s shed some light on how the Spurs team will lineup with Moura in their squad.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Strongest XI With Lucas Moura In Their Midfield
Defence
Hugo Lloris will start in goal for Spurs and will be shielded by a back four of Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen in central defence while Ben Davies operates in the left-back position and Kieran Trippier starts on the right-hand side of the back four.
The Tottenham defence has only conceded 22 goals in 24 league matches, which shows how well their defenders have performed this season.
Midfield
The midfield duo consisting of Christian Eriksen and Mousa Dembele will take their place as the holding midfielders in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting eleven while Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Heung-Min Son will operate in front of them as part of the Spurs midfield.
Both Alli and Son has been in sensational form this term and they will look to form a formidable midfield partnership with the potential new signing Moura looking to cause damage on the right flank.
Attack
Harry Kane will lead the lines up top for Spurs. The English forward is currently leading the race for the Premier League’s golden boot, scoring 21 goals in 23 league matches so far in this campaign.
