Manchester United did not break a sweat, knocking Yeovil Town out of the FA Cup at the weekend. They are back in action this Wednesday, in one of the biggest matches of this month, when they travel to Wembley, to face Tottenham Hotspur this week. United are currently on an 8-game unbeaten run, the best in the league at the moment and will look to repeat the performance that they put in, in the 2-0 victory at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.
Spurs are fresh from back to back 1-1 draws, against Southampton in the league and Newport in the FA Cup. They cannot lose any more ground in the race for the top-4 and will look to win the game, in front of their home crows. But Jose Mourinho will have his own plans and here is the predicted lineup he might field for this tie:
Team News:
The Red Devils do not have too many injury issues to worry about ahead of this game. Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defenders Eric Bailly and Daley Blind are all ruled out for this clash against Spurs. However, Mourinho is expected to give summer buy Alexis Sanchez his debut in the Red of Manchester.
Expected lineup (4-3-3):
Defense:
David de Gea has been his usual self on goal for the Red Devils this season but will be tested in this game, by an inform Harry Kane, leading the attack for the hosts. But the likes of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will look to keep the English striker in check for the entire. Victor Lindelof has not done enough to warrant a place in the first team and should be on the bench.
Antonio Valencia should continue his good work from the right flank while Ashley Young will look to get the better of the likes of Eriksen and Alli on the left flank.
Midfield:
Nemanja Matic has been crucial to Mourinho’s game plan this season and is one of the first names on the team sheet for Manchester United. He should start in a midfield three, as the deepest of the midfielders, with Paul Pogba to his left and Ander Herrera to his right.
This system will give United some mettle in the midfield against a free-flowing Spurs side.
Attack:
Belgian ace Romelu Lukaku has little competition in the striker’s role. He should continue to lead the line but will have a fresh face behind him in Alexis Sanchez, who was the man of the match for the Red Devils in their victory over Yeovil Town, in what was his first game.
He should start on the left flank, which will see Anthony Martial, who has also been in terrific form, start on the right flank.
Here is how they might line up:
