Argentine winger Nicolas Gaitan is facing great uncertainty in terms of the future of his footballing career. The stylish winger has now been reportedly linked with a move to a number of English Premier League clubs like Southampton, Watford and West Ham United.
Gaitan, who made the move to Atletico Madrid last summer is reportedly frustrated at his lack of game time at the Spanish capital and is ready to swap teams in favour of more time on the pitch. In his one and a half year at the club, he has been unable to break into the first team let alone cement his spot.
Given the fact that another attacker in the form of Diego Costa has returned to action this January for Atletico Madrid, the situation for Gaitan might become direr.
Latest reports in Spain have confirmed that Gaitan has rejected a move to join Premier League’s bottom-placed side Swansea City. The Argentine winger has been linked with a move to other clubs as well and here are three clubs who can swoop in for him.
Newcastle United
After an impressive season last time around, Newcastle United played found themselves back to the league they belong. However, their return to the zenith of English football has not gone according to plan and although they had enjoyed a decent start to their new English top-flight campaign, things are now pretty tough at the club.
They are now 15th in the league. They have collected just 10 of the last 45 possible points. With the January transfer window coming to an end, Newcastle will look to seek redemption in the market after failing to register quality, new players, in the summer.
West Ham United
Fortune has swung its way around the Hammers as West Ham United, after being winless in nine matches recently turned things around. The gloomy atmosphere around the new London stadium is a little less tentative now as Moyes attempts to find a new formula to bring his side back to a fighting place in the league. Despite already having a plethora of attackers, Moyes can still seek a further addition given that nobody has really fired on all cylinders for them this season.
Chelsea
The least likely possibility of the three situations for Gaitan. However, The Blues already had a thin squad and recently sanctioned a loan move for Charly Musonda. They now only have Willian, Pedro and Hazard available as wingers going into the second part of the season and Conte can do with an extra pair of legs in the squad.
