Rangers are set to lose their star forward Alfredo Morelos before the transfer window comes to a close at the end of this month. According to a reliable source in the English press, Rangers manager, Graeme Murty has confirmed that the club has received an offer for the Colombian forward from a Chinese club. The 21-year-old has been in sensational form for the Ibrox-based outfit this season and has put in some eye-catching displays in the Scottish Premiership helping his side climb to second place in the league table.
Morelos has scored 13 goals and provided 2 assists in 27 appearances for the Teddy Bears this season in all competitions. He has also represented the Colombian Under 20 side and has found the back of the net 7 times in 6 international matches. In a recent interview, Murty was quoted to have said, “There is (accuracy in the reports) as far as I’m aware but we have to make a footballing decision based on whether we can resource someone of Alfredo’s quality……Every single footballer on the planet has a price – Neymar proved that – but it’s about the timescale and making sure we can then use what we get to enhance the squad.”
It remains to be seen whether the Glaswegian club will let him go before the end of the January transfer window. With the transfer deadline fast approaching, let’s take a look at three potential replacements for Graeme Murty to consider in the near future.
Óscar Estupiñán
Rangers could look to replace one Colombian with another going into the future. The 21-year-old has put in some eye-catching displays for Vitória Guimarães SC this season. He has scored 7 goals and provided 5 assists in 21 appearances for the Portuguese club in this campaign. Graeme Murty can definitely bolster his attacking options by making a move for the Colombian starlet in the near future.
Ross McCormack
If the Glaswegian side are looking for someone who can be a temporary fix, they can definitely opt for the services of the 31-year-old. He is currently set to come back to Aston Villa from his loan spell at Melbourne City in the A-League. He has put in some terrific performances for the Australian outfit and has scored 14 goals in 19 matches last season. The Scottish forward also has a wealth of experience in Scottish football which makes him an ideal candidate to take up the goal-scoring duties at the Ibrox Stadium once again, after initially starting out at Rangers earlier in his career.
Sandro Ramirez
The Everton striker has struggled in the Premier League this season but has a prolific record in La Liga where he lit up the top tier of Spanish football with his performances for Malaga. Rangers can look to provide him with an escape route into Scottish football which might help the striker reignite his career.
