Manchester City will entertain West Bromwich Albion at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday night. Pep Guardiola’s men have bounced back from their only domestic defeat of the season at the hands of Liverpool by winning their last three matches across all competitions. They will be looking to make it four wins on the spin but it won’t be easy as they will be up against a resurgent West Brom who are fighting for their Premier League lives. It is expected that Alan Pardew’s side will sit back and try to hit City on the counter much like they did versus Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
The recent history of the fixture makes a grim reading for the Baggies as they have lost their previous 13 meeting with the Citizens of Manchester. Pep Guardiola might go for his favoured 4-3-3 formation on Wednesday and could opt for Bernardo Silva to start up front in place of the injured Leroy Sane. Ederson and David Silva are also expected to return to the starting eleven after being rested in their away victory over the Bluebirds in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face West Bromwich Albion
Defence
Ederson could return in goal for Manchester City and will be shielded by a back four consisting of John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi in central defence while Kyle Walker operates as the right-back and Alexander Zinchenko starts on the left side of the backline.
Pep Guardiola’s defence has leaked in goals in recent times and has conceded 8 goals in their last five matches in all competitions. The Spanish boss will be hoping that his backline would put in a much-improved performance versus the Baggies on Wednesday night.
Midfield
The trio of Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho and David Silva could be deployed at the centre of the park. İlkay Gündoğan might be rested for this match after starting against Cardiff City on Sunday and Yaya Toure might be handed a place on the bench.
Attack
The dangerous front three of Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva will start up top for the Citizens. Leroy Sane will miss out on the clash after falling victim to an injury against Cardiff City on Sunday. The new makeshift trio still has loads of goals and assists in between them this season. Hence it is expected that one of them will make the difference on the day at the Etihad Stadium.
