Liverpool are still being linked with a move for French winger Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco this month. According to recent reports in the English press, the midfielder missed Monaco’s loss at the hands of Lyon on Wednesday night due to fatigue. His absence seems to have nothing to do with growing speculation surrounding his future at the club. Some sources have claimed recently that the Reds had agreed on personal terms with the player ahead of a big-money transfer reported to be in the region of £90m.
The Merseyside club has already tried to sign him in the past and their interest seemed to have intensified in recent weeks following the departure of Phillipe Coutinho earlier in this transfer window. The Kopites all over the world remain adamant that the current Liverpool squad lacks creativity in the midfield as evidenced by their disappointing loss away at Swansea City in their last league outing. It is believed that the 22-year-old French talent would be the perfect marquee signing if Klopp’s side can pull off a deal in the near future.
Let’s take a look at how the Reds will line up with Thomas Lemar in the team.
4-2-2-2 Liverpool Strongest Lineup With Thomas Lemar In Their Starting Eleven
Defence
Loris Karius will start in goal for the Merseyside club ahead of Simon Mignolet and might be shielded by a back four of Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip featuring in central defence while Trent Alexander-Arnold starts ahead of Joe Gomez at right-back and Andrew Robertson taking his place on the left-side of the backline.
The Reds has leaked in goals away from home and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his defenders can put on a much-improved showing in the second half of the campaign.
Midfield
Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be deployed as the holding midfielders at the centre of the park. Liverpool’s potential target Thomas Lemar will be deployed on the left flank if they manage to secure his services in the near future. The Frenchman has scored 3 goals and made 5 assists for AS Monaco this term in all competitions and it could be expected that he would perform even better with top talents playing around him at Anfield. Sadio Mane will be shifted to start on the right side of the midfield.
Attack
The duo of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will lead the lines for Jurgen Klopp’s team. The pair has scored 41 goals and made 16 assists for the Merseysiders this term across all competitions.
