Leeds United are looking to rival the interests of Cardiff City over Blackburn Rovers midfielder, Bradley Dack. A £4m move bid has already been sent over by the Bluebirds but United can make a beefed up offer if they are serious about the 24-year-old’s services.
A central midfielder by trade, Dack developed his game playing for Gillingham where he was signed on a scholarship in 2010. He made his debut on 14th August 2012 against Bristol City and on to become the club’s brightest young talents over the past three years. Dack was the highest goalscorer for the club in the 2015/16 season and went on to win the League One player of the year award. Of course, his impressive career achievements did not stop there as he went on to win the Gillingham for the past three seasons consecutively before making the £750,000 move to the Rovers last summer.
He is held in high regards by the fans and the Blackburn management. Tony Mowbray was quoted, ”I want to sign good players, and I knew I was doing that when we brought Bradley Dack into the football club. I wasn’t hoping for anything from Bradley apart from working really hard and being the player I know he is. He’s contributing to winning football matches and working so hard, which is an important thing with me for Bradley.”
Thomas Christiansen’s men has faced a season of multiple highs and lows, especially after the fans saw their in-form attacker, Samuel Saiz get suspended for six games on misbehavioral charges. The Whites bowed out of the FA Cup after a disappointing 2-1 loss to Newport County last Sunday.
Their chances in the EFL League Cup also ended after Leicester City thrashed them with three goals to one in November. Clearly, a return to the Premier League is all they have to aim for now that the second half of the season is already upon us.
Even their promotion chase took a huge hit after the side’s shocking 3-4 loss to Millwall last night saw the club drop to the 10th spot of the Championship 3 points behind the playoff spots. Christiansen has struggled to find a man to lead the attacking lineup by netting the ball regularly and after facing suspensions to key players the final stretch of the campaign is expected to be harsh.
Dack can fill up the gap left by Saiz and can provide a rotational option in the holding midfield role. However, will the board shell out a bid for a midfielder when they clearly need to sign a proven goalscorer?
