Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Everton striker, Sandro Ramirez on a loan deal for the remainder of the season. With just 649 minutes of game time received this season, the 22-year-old is no longer in Sam Allardyce’s plans for the rest of the season now that Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott have arrived.
A product of Barcelona’s La Masia, Ramirez made his debut for the senior side on 31st August against Villareal after impressing for the club’s B Side with 23 goals in 91 appearances. But his future with the Catalan side was always going to be tough with the superstar lineup of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi in the club.
He opted to make the move to Malaga and immediately hit the ground running at La Rosaleda Stadium scoring 16 goals and furthering 5 assists last season. Deemed to be one of the stars in the Spanish national time he was subsequently in the plans of Everton’s heavy summer investments to make a push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
But it looks like the Las Palmas-born striker’s promising career has hit a rough patch in the English game and maybe a move will help him resume his form in front of goal. Everton’s poor start to the season have been mended and they can afford to do without Ramirez at least for the remainder of the current campaign.
On the other hand, Newcastle desperately need his services to successfully escape relegation. The Magpies have the toughest fixtures in their last 15 games among the bottom three and this is just the start to the gruelling process.
The January transfer window has not been kind to them so far with a number of transfer possibilities failing to materialise. Owner Mike Ashley has been very reluctant to provide financial support to Rafael Benitez and this has placed the club in a tight spot.
With a season of highs and lows, Newcastle have stayed clear of the relegation zone in recent times but not impressive enough to put the worry completely on the backboard. They are coming off a 3-1 defeat to the league leaders, Manchester City last Saturday and got completely outclassed at the Etihad.
The Spaniard has done an impressive job to provide the team with some structure but a lack of precision from the attacking third seems to be costing them crucial points. Ramirez can be the ideal option to provide Benitez with some option from the benches and rotate the dual attacking lineup.
