Will it be another washout from Liverpool as they visit the Liberty Stadium for their Premier League fixture on Monday? The last time these two sides met, the match ended 5 goals to nil for the Reds and visitors were left chasing shadows throughout the 90 minutes.
Liverpool’s spirits are sky high right now after beating the league leaders, Manchester City, 4-3 at home last weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s men put on a remarkable display against what could be dubbed as one of the best sides in world football right now.
The front trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah was unstoppable as each of them netted a goal in the second half to give the Reds a massive 3 goal cushion. It was only when the side got complacent in the later stages that allowed the Citizens to pop in two quick goals and spark a possible comeback.
This fixture is very favourably stacked for Liverpool after a such a stressful match and they should get the easy win against a struggling Swansea. But as we have seen on a countless number of times, you should never underestimate any team in the Premier League, and maybe the Swans are just starting their resurgence towards the top of the points table under the new manager.
Klopp is expected to field his men in the 4-3-3 formation.
Defence
Simone Mignolet was dropped from the starting XI against City and was replaced by Loris Karius in between the sticks. The German might keep his spot and start against Swansea.
Ragnar Klavan is fit to appear in this matchup, but Virgil van Dijk is expected to make his Premier League debut with the club alongside Joel Matip.
The duo should pair up in the centre-back roles with Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson providing cover from the wide areas. Alberton Moreno will have to fight for his spot in the left-back position now that Robertson has been filling it out so impressively in recent weeks.
Midfield
Emre Can should get the nod ahead of Jordan Henderson in the midfield anchor role behind Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Lallana has returned from a long sting at the sidelines and should start ahead of Giorginio Wijnaldum.
Attack
Mohamed Salah might not be one hundred percent fit but is still the best option on the right flank with Sadio Mane on the other side. Roberto Firmino is the predicted starter in the centre-forward role.
