Celtic forward Moussa Dembele bagged 32 goals in his first season in Scotland which helped Celtic swoop the domestic treble. Despite struggling with injuries this term he still has eight goals in twenty-one games for the Hoops. He has scored a massive 40 goals in just over 65 games for the club already and has become their first team hitman above Griffiths. The 21-year-old Frenchman is tipped to become one of the deadliest finishers in Europe and has been linked with a great number of clubs, including many in the Premier League. With Dembele possibly on the move, the Hoops will need another hitman up front to fill up Dembele’s void.
Here is a look at three possible option for Celtic to consider should Dembele leave Celtic.
Daniel Sturridge
Daniel Sturridge is no longer an integral member of the Liverpool first team. His time at the club has been frustrating this season and the English forward this season has not played enough despite being fit. He was snubbed for the Three Lions call this time and Brendan Rodgers might want to look at Sturridge as a viable and tested option in the league who would be keen to join any club where he can play more with the 2018 FIFA World Cup coming up.
Stevan Jovetic
A career that began with great promise has gotten lost somewhere. Jovetic continued to flourish in his early days at Fiorentina but his move to Manchester City saw the striker’s demotion to the bench for the first time in his career. It affected the player’s morale and confidence. His City career never really took off and he ended his time there with 11 goals and 6 assists in 44 games. He secured a transfer to French champions Monaco this summer. However, his time at Monaco has not gone smoothly either with Jovetic frustrated at being reduced to a bench role in the club. He has just played only a handful of games for the French outfit so far. A move to a club where he will get regular game time might just be the late boost Jovetic needs to kick-start his stagnated career once again.
Kevin Gameiro
The Frenchman has been instrumental in Antoine Griezmann’s form and has helped himself to some goals as well this season. However, with Diego Costa now eligible to play again, Simeone has to place Gameiro on the bench. In such a scenario, Gameiro may be forced to move giving Rodgers a chance to bring in the talented Frenchman.
