Arsenal has pulled out of the race to sign FC Girondins de Bordeaux winger Malcom in this January transfer window. According to recent reports, the Gunners are putting all their attention on the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan but could still come back for the Brazilian in the summer. The 20-year-old has been touted as a future replacement for Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium. He has been in sensational form for Bordeaux this season and has put in some eye-catching displays in the Ligue 1. However, the North London outfit has decided to back away for the time being as they are unwilling to meet his £44m asking price but are confident about their chances of striking a deal in the summer.
It is believed that Malcom is unsettled with his future unclear at the French club and is looking to play under the guidance of Arsene Wenger in the near future. Bordeaux is desperate to keep hold of their star player as they are currently struggling in 13th place in the Ligue 1 standings. The Brazilian who has scored 7 goals and made 6 assists in 23 matches this season, is also being linked with a move to Arsenal’s north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
With Arsenal pulling out of the race to sign him this month, let’s take a look at three potential Premier League clubs who can benefit from signing Malcom before the winter transfer comes to a close at the end of this month.
Liverpool
The Reds are in need of a long-term replacement for Phillipe Coutinho and could try to replace one Brazilian with another by securing Malcom’s signature this month. He has immense potential to be a big hit at Anfield for years to come. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already proved that he can get the best out of his young players this season as evidenced by the emergence of Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson to name a few in the Liverpool first-team. Hence, the German manager would be the ideal man to guide the Brazilian into potentially developing into a world-class talent in the coming seasons.
Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side possess a squad full of young stars and they can bolster their attacking options by going for Malcom’s signature before the end of this month. The 20-year-old Brazilian can play in multiple positions and is highly versatile. He can operate on either flank as well as in the number 10 position which will suit Pochettino’s playing style at the north London club.
Everton
The Toffees have already added winger Theo Walcott this month and they can follow it up by going for Malcom’s signature in this January transfer window as well. Sam Allardyce might be looking to build for the future and the Brazilian can turn out to be a star of that future if the Merseyside club provides him with a platform to showcase his talent in the Premier League.
