West Ham United squandered a glorious chance to move up to the top half of the table as they were held by an average Bournemouth side at home.
After a strong start to the game from The Hammers, as they pressed high up the pitch, Moyes’ men eased off towards the end of the first half. The second half saw West Ham start with the same intention and energy but everything fell flat yet again when Lanzini picked up a knock and was forced to be taken off for Chicharito. Despite being on the back foot throughout the game, it was the Cherries’ who took the lead, when substitute Stanislas put Ryan Fraser through to slide a near-post finish past Adrian.
However, the lead was short-lived as Hernandez equalized immediately after pouncing on Arnautovic’s blocked shot to bring his team on level terms. With all 3 points up for grabs, neither side could quite muster the quality to find the winner.
Adrian- 5.5/10
Didn’t have an awful lot to do, but should’ve done better for the goal as he left far too much space on the near post.
Pablo Zabaleta- 8.5/10
Excellent game from the Argentine, bombed forward whenever he could and didn’t put a foot wrong defensively. Contributed majorly to West Ham’s intense phases of the game.
James Collins- 7.5/10
Kept Callum Wilson in check and solid throughout the first half. Not tested in the second half.
Angelo Ogbonna- 7/10
Kept up his good recent form with another composed display, except one moment of madness that earned hima yellow.
Aaron Cresswell- 7.5/10
Played as a left centerback and was supreme aerially to deal with all the Bournemouth long balls. Made a superb pass to Lanzini that nearly created a goal.
Arthur Masuaku- 6/10
Got forward well and defensively not questioned, but very erratic deliveries from the left side.
Pedro Obiang- 6/10
Very good in the first half but faded in the second. Struggled to deal with Stanislas after he was substituted on.
Cheikhou Kouyate- 6/10
Bar one driving run did nothing of note in the first half and almost anonymous in the second.
Mark Noble- 7/10
Combative and sharp in the tackle and good in possession, another industrious display from the skipper.
Manual Lanzini- 7.5/10
Really bright display, as he strutted about confidently in the first half and nearly got on the end of Zabaleta’s cross.
Was the Hammers’ liveliest player in the second half as well before injury cruelly cut his game short.
Marko Arnautovic- 6.5/10
Started confidently and forced Begovic into a very good save in the first half. Started to drift out towards the end of the half and bar one sight of goal, wasn’t too involved in the second half.
SUBSTITUTES
Javier Hernandez (Lanzini 63’) – 7/10
Made an excellent pass to Masuaku and scored a typical Chicharito goal to rescue a point/
