Spanish news outlet, Don Balon has reported that Real Madrid have joined in the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the coming weeks for £70m. Aubameyang has fallen under scrutiny in recent times after failing to show up to a team meeting before the club’s 0-0 draw against Wolfsburg on Sunday. He was also previously punished for a similar situation and was left out of the squad against Cfb Stuttgart in November. This is not the first time the Gabon international has had to face disciplinary consequences and has been dubbed by club director, Michael Zorc to be a problem punctuality wise.
Obviously, this does not sit well with the German outfit who have been credited with maintaining a close relationship with their players be it under Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel or Peter Stoger. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was quoted, “At some point, you can’t tolerate it [lack of discipline from Aubameyang] anymore. I don’t know what’s going on inside his head. We had a very contentious discussion today. We’re not used to this behaviour from him. It can’t go on like this.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s terms with the club have also soured over the past few weeks and the five-time Balon d’Or winner is looking to make a return to the Premier League. Obviously, this is a huge concern for Galactico fans who are just observing their rivals, Barcelona bolster their own squad ranks with big money signings.
Not only has the title slipped out of their hands this season, chances of winning the Champions League trophy is looking more unlikely as the days progress. They need to prepare for the possibility of losing their best player in a shock transfer and should snap up the opportunity to sign a highly rated striker like Aubameyang.
The fans at Santiago Bernabeu are currently dealing with the team’s struggle in the La Liga. A 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo last week has opened up a 16 point gap between the club and rivals Barcelona who are the current league leaders. Conceding the title to their direct rivals will not sit with the Madrid board but they can still salvage the season with another Champions League trophy.
His talents are undeniable with a 21 goal tally in 23 matches this season and could do wonders at a struggling side like Real Madrid in the La Liga under Zinedine Zidane. Now that he has almost fallen out favour with the German club, maybe a move is imminent.
