After making just three senior team appearances for Fulham, Jordan Graham has been recalled to the Molineux Stadium by the Wolves management. The 22-year-old got called up on just 12 occasions in the EFL Championship with zero starts under his belt. Obviously, this did not sit well with the Wander who are willing to only invest in the player’s development.
A product of the Aston Villa youth academy, Graham joined the Wolves on loan in November 2014 before signing a permanent 18-month contract in the January transfer window. Laden with constant injuries, Graham struggled to find a lot of the first-team action and was again sent out to serve Oxford United on a short loan spell.
Even after scoring his first goal for Wolves against Charlton Athletic, the Coventry-born striker went down with a tear in his knee ligament. Maybe the demands of Championship football has caught up to the striker who has barely made a scratch in the league with just that one goal to his name. He grabbed a brace for the Fulham’s U21 side in the 3-1 win against Crawley Town but otherwise, it looks like his career is slowly fading into the dark oblivion.
Wolves are currently cruising through the Championship having already broken away from the pack with a 10 point lead at the top of the table. The side has netted the ball 50 times in 27 league appearances and are looking to get the better of a struggling Swansea City in the FA Cup third round tie on Thursday.
Nuno Espirito Santo has drilled a formidable structure into his team which is quite magnificently breezing past second division contenders. They are preparing for a future in the Premier League and quality additions are already being made in the January transfer window.
The club has just signed Valencia striker, Rafa Mir for £1.5m and are looking into the transfer market for more players.
A striker by trade and a struggling one, this obviously puts Graham in an uncomfortable situation. Clearly, his interests do not lie in warming the benches for another season and breaking into the first team under Santo is looking more and more unlikely as the days progress.
Maybe the club can sanction another loan deal for the striker to a side who are desperate for goalscorers. Sunderland is rotting at the bottom of the league table and are currently scouting for attackers themselves. Maybe their interests will align with that of Graham and an agreement can be arrived upon before the end of January.
