Bournemouth did themselves a massive favour today in their quest of maintaining their Premier League status as they came back from behind to clinch all three points against Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsene Wenger’s men took the lead through Hector Bellerin but goals in quick succession from Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe secured all three points for them. Here is how they fared against the North London based outfit.
Asmir Begovic 7/10
Begovic was hardly tested as he might have expected before the start of the game by the Gunners, but he stood tall every time he was tested. It would be harsh on him to blame him for Bellerin’s goal.
Simon Francis 7/10
The 32-year old appeared to be rock-solid at the back and dealt well with the attacking endeavours of Arsenal.
Steve Cook 7/10
Cook was resilient and showcased a lot of commitment towards the game. His tackle on Danny Welbeck in the closing stages was quite appealing.
Nathan Ake 7/10
Just like Cook and Francis, Ake kept things nice and tidy at the back and maintained his composure amidst the animosity.
Adam Smith 6/10
Smith should have shown more industry to turn the tables in favour of his side, but that doesn’t mean he was sluggish either. He made a superb challenge to block Jack Wilshere’s shot in the first-half.
Lewis Cook 7/10
The 20-year-old injected a lot of charisma to the offensive movements of Howe’s side and made some really nice passes to make his presence felt.
Dan Gosling 6/10
Gosling was lucky to find himself on the pitch after his rash foul on Wilshere. He did the basics right although couldn’t create anything marvellous or spectacular.
Charlie Daniels 5/10
Daniels was defeated by the pace of Bellerin on innumerable occasions as the Spaniard was all industrious and purposeful down his right. The Bournemouth man was caught out of position when Arsenal scored.
Jordon Ibe 7.5/10
He operated with a lot of intent and was alert throughout the game. He gave the lead to the home side, which eventually proved to be the winning goal.
Ryan Fraser 7/10
Fraser kept vouching for loopholes in Arsenal’s backline and was successful in his pursuits at times. He provided a lovely cross to assist Wilson for Bournemouth’s first goal.
Callum Wilson 8/10
It was a great day at the office for Wilson as he kept questioning the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Rob Holding. Wilson scored the equalizing goal and assisted Ibe in the winning goal.
Substitutions
Lys Mousset 6/10
Mousset was brought on for Daniels and did bring a breath of fresh air for the Cherries.
Marc Pugh NA
He replaced Ibe in the closing stages of the game.
Benik Afobe NA
Afobe replaced Wilson during the additional minutes.
