Leeds United succumbed to Ipswich Town earlier today at the Portman Road Stadium as the home side registered a 1-0 win over the Whites. Thomas Christiansen’s men were reduced to ten men after Eunan O’Kane was sent off in the first-half after an altercation with Ipswich Town’s left-back, Jonas Knudsen.
Eventually, Bersant Celina’s goal in the second-half proved to be the only goal of the game which earned the Blues all three points and here is how we rate Leeds United’s players from their defeat at the hands of Mick McCarthy’s side.
Felix Wiedwald: 6/10
The goalkeeper looked quite timorous at times and didn’t distribute the ball in an entirely convincing fashion more often than not. However, he could hardly do anything about the goal he conceded.
Gaetano Berardi: 7/10
Berardi was troubled by the pace of Bersant Celina but overall, his defending was decent and he did gallop forward every time situations permitted him.
Pontus Jansson: 6.5/10
The Swede lived up to the physical aspects of the game and made some shrewd tackles, but he did look shaky later on in the game.
Liam Cooper: 5/10
The centre-back put Wiedwald under immense pressure owing to his inept passes and was arguably the weakest link in the defence of the Peacocks.
Vurnon Anita: 6/10
The former Newcastle United man did well as he dealt with Joe Garner with notable precision and did attempt to make something happen by marauding forward occasionally.
Kalvin Phillips: 5/10
Phillips gave away the ball too easily at times and slipped at the crucial moment when Celina smashed the ball. He was far from being an effective asset in the middle.
Eunan O’Kane: 3/10
Although he appeared to be good in the middle, his brainless act earned him a red card which completely changed the complexion of the game.
Pawel Cibicki: 4/10
Cibicki hardly did anything to justify his inclusion in the starting line-up as he left a lot to be desired. Christiansen would certainly not be impressed with his performance.
Pablo Hernandez: 7.5/10
He was undoubtedly the best player for the Yorkshire-based club as he looked industrious, creative and had the element of spark in his endeavours. It was an encouraging outing for him.
Ezgjan Alioski: 5/10
Alioski was pulled out of the game at the halfway mark, but he managed to play an influential role prior to that.
Kemar Roofe: 6.5/10
Placed up front, Roofe held the ball meticulously and made some dazzling runs but it was his productivity inside the box that was lacking.
