Tottenham Hotspur’s sensational winning run hit a little setback in their last Premier League tie when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Wembley by West Ham United. But the North London heavyweights were confident this afternoon when they hosted a struggling Everton side and determined to clinch a win in order to keep pushing for a ‘top four’ finish. Spurs were in full control and showed their supremacy in their Goodison meeting which ended in a 3-0 win for Mauricio Pochettino’s men earlier this campaign. They were expecting a better context this term but the Toffees surrendered miserably yet again to suffer a 4-0 defeat.

Hugo Lloris: 7
Had a quiet outing as the Toffees could not create enough goal-bound opportunities to trouble the Frenchman. A relatively easier clean-sheet for him.
Serge Aurier: 8
Was preferred over Kieran Trippier and made an impact with his forward runs, crosses and link-up play upfront. His pinpoint cross was headed home by Heung-Min Son to earn his side a first-half lead.
Davinson Sanchez: 7.5
The young Colombian has adjusted perfectly to new surroundings and is showing his defensive resilience in place of injured Toby Alderweireld. Sanchez holds a bright future and today’s performance was another instance why he is rated so highly.
Jan Vertonghen: 8
Maintained the defensive composure against debutant Cenk Tosun who was impressive at times with his runs and link-up play. Did well against Wayne Rooney as the iconic Englishman could not trouble the opponent’s defence much this evening.
Ben Davies: 7.5
Had a balanced outing as he performed his defensive duties and linked up well up front with his overlap runs. Didn’t allow Yannick Bolasie to cause enough menace down the left.
Mousa Dembele: 8
Controlled the midfield and conducted the show with his holding, snatching and dribbling traits. The Belgian looked solid, strong and sharp yet again and seems to have regained his old form after missing out a good amount of games due to injury concern. Was replaced by Moussa Sissoko late in the game.
Eric Dier: 8
Was rusty while tackling at times but did a decent job in a destructive midfield role. He broke down many movements in midfield to avoid further scare in the deep and worked hard to carry the ball forward from a deeper midfield role. Also assisted Kane to score his second of the afternoon. Was taken off in the second-half to be replaced by Victor Wanyama.
Christian Eriksen: 8
Eriksen is not at his best in recent weeks but did well to combine with Alli, Son, and Kane up-front. His set-pieces were not enough troublesome for the opponents, but the movement around the box was enough to keep the Toffees defence on toes. He finally got his reward and scored the goal of the game with a sensational strike from Alli’s pass. Made way for Erik Lamela in closing minutes amid standing ovation from the Wembley crowd.
Dele Alli: 7.5
His tricky runs and footwork caused enough problems in Everton defence but should have scored at least once as he missed a few golden opportunities. Assisted spectacularly for Christian Eriksen who scored Spurs fourth of the evening.
Heung-Min Son: 9
Pulled all the strings for the hosts as he not only netted the opener to score in his five consecutive home outings but also assisted Kane within a couple of minutes after the break. Created a few more chances and his runs, cut insides and tricky skills depleted Everton’s defensive resilience. Was unlucky to hit the woodwork from a glaring strike.
Harry Kane: 8.5
Kane again scored a brace against the Toffees which made him Spurs the highest scorer ever overtaking Teddy Sheringham. The first goal looked offside and the second one was not the prettiest of finishes. But who scares! He takes his Premier League goal tally to 20 this term and stretches the gap with Mohamed Salah to win the golden boot yet again.

Came late in the game. Combined well upfront to build a few attacking moves.
