Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho might consider leaving the Foxes in search of regular first-team football after the arrival of new signing Fousseni Diabate. Some sources are claiming that the Nigerian forward may give up football in the King Power Stadium as he has fallen down the pecking order under manager Claude Puel this season. He has featured in 14 matches for Leicester in this campaign and has scored two goals and provided one assist in all competitions. His record has been poor, to say the least, since his big-money move from Manchester City in the summer of 2017. Hence, he has been often overlooked by the Foxes boss and now, with the arrival of new recruit Diabate, it is highly likely that he will look to leave the West Midlands club in this January transfer window.
Let’s take a look at three possible destinations for the 21-year-old forward to consider going into the second half of the season.
Swansea City
The Swans are currently rock bottom of the Premier League standings and are in dire need of some quality additions in this ongoing transfer window. Both Wilfried Bony and Tammy Abraham has struggled to score goals consistently for the Welsh club this season. A potential deal for Iheanacho this month could prove to be a useful addition in their fight to save themselves from relegation to the Championship. New manager Carlos Carvalhal needs to pull off a miracle comeback in the second half of the season if the Swans are to stay in the Premier League next season and the 21-year-old Nigerian might be the ideal solution to their attacking woes.
West Ham United
The Hammers boss David Moyes is looking for players who have something to prove and a move for Iheanacho fits his criteria as the forward will be hungry for regular football in his effort to show how capable he is in front of goal. Both Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez has struggled up top for the East London club this season and the impending departure of Diafro Sakho could create some space for a new striker to come into the club.
West Bromwich Albion
The Baggies has been woeful going forward under manager Alan Pardew with both Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez finding it hard to score goals at the Hawthorns. They require a forward who can bring in some fresh impetus in their quest to save themselves from being relegated from the top tier of English football this season. Iheanacho could be that man who can fire them to Premier League safety in the coming months.
