FPL GW 23 kicks off on Saturday the 13th of January. There is no early kickoff this week though. So, you transfers need to be made by 14:00 UK time on the 13th. There are six 3 pm games on Saturday. These are Chelsea vs Leicester, Crystal Palace vs Burnley, Huddersfield vs West Ham, Newcastle vs Swansea, Watford vs Southampton and West Brom vs Brighton. Spurs vs Brighton is the late kickoff on Saturday.
There are then two FPL games this Sunday as Bournemouth vs Arsenal and Liverpool take on Manchester City. Game week 23 ends on Monday this week as Manchester United take on Stoke.
Here are three players you should sign this week.
Jesse Lingard (6.3)
Jese Lingard started out the season as somewhat of a fringe player for Manchester United. In fact, he did not start a league game until nine games into the season. But his recent run of excellent form both in the league and cups has earned Lingard a regular spot on the United team sheet in recent weeks.
Lingard has started just nine games in the league for Manchester United this season. Despite the lack of starts, Lingard has certainly impressed. He has scored seven goals and assisted four in the league this season. This is a superb record for a midfielder who has started so few games.
This recent good form makes Lingard the perfect player for your FPL side. One of the reasons for this is his price. Lingard will cost you just 6.3 on FPL. 6.3 for a midfielder who has bagged seven goals and four assists from nine starts is an excellent deal. Manchester United are also playing Stoke City at home this week. Stoke are in horrible form. They find themselves 18th in the league. And have also recently departed with manager Mark Hughes. So, Stoke are likely to have low confidence and United should have no problem disposing of them. One player who is very likely to be involved in these goals is Lingard.
Harry Kane (12.9)
Harry Kane is the most expensive player on FPL this season costing you 12.9. However, he is very much worth it. Kane has scored 18 league goals already this season making him the league’s top scorer.
Those 18 goals also make Kane the top forward on FPL with 134 points. The next closest being Sergio Aguero with 111. So, while Kane may cost you a fair bit, he is guaranteed to get you goals.
Furthermore, Spurs are at home to Everton this week. Despite the resurgence in form when Sam Allardyce took over, Everton are now on a poor run of form. They have won just once in their last five games. This poor run also saw them beaten by Bournemouth and held to a 0-0 by a struggling West Brom side.
So, given how bad Everton are playing lately, it is very likely that Spurs are going to beat them this game week. And given Kane has the most FPL points of any Spurs player this season, he is likely to be involved in the goals.
Pascal Groß (5.9)
Pascal Groß is certainly not the best midfielder you could have for your FPL side. However, for his low price of 5.9, he gets you a fair few points.
Groß has scored four goals, earned five assists and helped Brighton keep eight clean sheets this season. This has seen him earn 101 FPL points. 101 points is a very solid tally for the price you are paying for him. It is also more than both Alexis Sanchez and Eden Hazard have earned this season in FPL.
Perhaps the main reason for Groß’s inclusion this week though is Brighton’s opponents. Brighton are playing West Brom this week. West Brom are 19th in the Premier League and are only not bottom because of goal difference. They have also won just twice in the league this season which is the lowest in the league. The Baggies are also without a win in the league since the second game of the season when they beat Burnley back in August.
With this in mind, you would except Brighton to beat them this game week and in turn, Groß to pick up a goal or assist, or maybe both.
