Inter Milan have emerged as the likely destination for Andre Schurrle according to Talksport. Schurrle has fallen out of favour at Borussia Dortmund with just a measly 339 minutes of game time received so far into the season. Spending majority of the season on the sidelines with injury, the former Chelsea player has failed to find his feet at the Westfalenstadion and has fallen way below the pecking order.
The FIFA World Cup 2018 is just six months away and is a significant part of the German’s career. Schurrle won the 2014 World Cup after assisting Mario Gotze to the only goal of the final against Argentina. However, he might not get selected under Joachim Low if he fails to display his talents on the pitch.
Dortmund have a spree of young talent in the form of Christian Pulisic, Alexander Isak and Maximilian Philipp. With Marco Reus and Mario Gotze nearing a return for the time, they might not be able to guarantee a starting spot for Schurrle for the remainder of the season.
This comes as a blow for Tottenham Hotspur who were linked with the 27-year-old previously. All is not lost, however, and Mauricio Pochettino can consider a few alternatives to pursue before the close of the January transfer window.
Lucas Moura
The 25-year-old arrived at the Parc des Princes in the summer of 2012 for a then-record fee of €35m. He was an immediate hit with the ambition to become the best player in the world.
But as it occurs to many teenage sensations in Europe, Lucas failed to deliver and dropped way below the pecking order. The arrival of Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria and Neymar has certainly not helped his case with the former Sao Paulo attacker registering less than 90 minutes of game time this season.
He has been heavily linked with Manchester United but Tottenham still have a chance to make a swoop for the speedster.
Malcom
Already a transfer target for the Spurs, Malcom is another Brazilian prospect who can flourish in the Premier League. Malcolm has taken the Ligue 1 by storm scoring 7 goals in 18 games while also adding a further 4 assists this season. Standing at just 5 feet 8 inches, the 20-year-old has a knack for breezing past defenders from the wide areas and break down the opposition half whenever he gets the ball.
Cristian Pavon
Pavon is one of the hottest properties in Argentina right now. He plies his trade for Boca Juniors, a team with a history of producing great players. A supremely confident player on the ball, Pavon can appear from either of the wings or even in the lone striker role. He has been linked with a move to many major clubs in Europe.
