Burnley just confirmed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur winger, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou on a loan deal for the remainder of the season. The 22-year-old has registered just a minute of Premier League football this season and is desperate for more game time.
N’Koudou arrived at the North London side from Marseille for a transfer fee of £9.4m in the summer of 2016. His impressive 10 goal tally in 41 appearances for the French outfit in the previous season drew the eyes of many clubs with Tottenham the likely suitors.
After a long drawn out transfer procedure which got finalised forty days after the medical got completed, N’Koudou said, “I can’t wait to get to know the Premier League and the English game. It suits my playing style, it’s explosive. Everyone knows I’m fast, I like to dribble around players so the English league is best for me.”
But the Frenchman could not quite follow up on his words and has featured in only 23 games for the club so far, mostly as a late substitute. With just one full 90 minute game under his in the current campaign, N’Koudou can finally prove himself at Turf Moor.
Burnley are currently flying through their first season in the Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship. Their Boxing Day draw against Manchester United is a testament to the success they have enjoyed so far into the season.
Sitting in the 7th spot of the points table, Sean Dyche is quietly competing against the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester City for a European qualification spot.
With high ambitions and an eagerness to beat all odds, the Clarets will require more firepower in order to complete the dream season they are enjoying right now. Dyche’s gameplay mostly boasts of resolute defending but has so far only netted the ball 19 times in 22 league games. A surprising number for a side so high up the table.
N’Koudou’s arrival will finally provide some options for Sean Dyche from the wide areas with Robbie Brady sidelined after a clash with Leicester City’s Harry Maguire. Scott Arfield has so far featured from the left wing with the 25-year-old’s absence and still might be a top choice for Dyche.
N’Koudou was quoted saying – “I knew he (Sean Dyche) is a big manager who likes young players and players who go forward, so it suits my character to come here and I am happy to work with him.” His pace and an outstanding ability to run at defenders from the wide areas will provide the manager with a different option necessary for a continued run in the top half of the table.
