Newcastle United are interested in making a loan offer for Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi this month. According to recent reports in the English press, the Magpies are hoping to secure the services of the 19-year-old Moroccan defender on loan during the January transfer window. The youngster has caught the eye with his impressive performances at right-back for the Los Blancos this season which has also gathered interest from clubs like Sporting Lisbon and Real Betis.
Hakimi is a highly talented full-back who has immense potential and Newcastle are ready to aid his development by temporarily acquiring his services in their quest to save themselves from a potential relegation at the end of the season. The Madrid starlet has already earned six international caps for his country Morroco having spent the majority of his youth career in the Spanish capital.
He broke into the Galacticos first-team last year and made his senior debut at the beginning of October in his side’s 2-0 home victory over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. He is currently being used as a cover for Dani Carvajal and featured for the full 90 minutes in Madrid’s Champions League group stage matches against Tottenham Hotspur which shows how highly Zinedine Zidane rates the youngster.
Some sources are claiming that Real Madrid wants to send him out on loan in order for him to get more experience playing at the senior level and Newcastle are edging closer to a potential move due to Rafael Benitez’s strong ties with the Spanish club. Benitez is in dire need of reinforcements as he tries to rescue the Magpies from a relegation dogfight going into the second half of the season. And it is believed that Hakimi would be a great signing for the Tyneside club even though it is most likely to be on a temporary basis.
The Magpies are currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table, just two points above the relegation zone. They desperately need to earn a few league victories to get themselves out of trouble with a potential takeover of the club looming on the horizon. The addition of Hakimi to their backline could go along way in solving some of their defensive problems while also providing an outlet on the right flank.
Hakimi has featured in 11 matches for Los Blancos in this campaign and has scored a goal and bagged an assist for the La Liga club in all competitions. It remains to be seen whether the Magpies are able to convince Real Madrid in pursuit of a loan deal for the talented full-back this month.
