Manchester United has been reported to be the most likely destination for out of favour winger, Lucas Moura. The Paris Saint-Germain wide man is no longer the first choice under Unai Emery and is ready to leave rather than warming the benches for another season.
The 25-year-old arrived at the Parc des Princes in the summer of 2012 for a then-record fee of €35m. He was an immediate hit with the ambition to become the best player in the world.
But as it occurs to many teenage sensations in Europe, Lucas failed to deliver and dropped way below the pecking order. The arrival of Julian Draxler, Angel Di Maria and Neymar has certainly not helped his case with the former Sao Paulo attacker registering less than 90 minutes of game time this season.
Jose Mourinho is currently scouting the transfer market for a winger and a left-back. Linked with the many European talents like Malcom and Gareth Bale, Lucas is one of the names he is strongly considering. The Portuguese tactician is well aware of the talents of Lucas from the wide areas and might just go all in.
Lucas’ pace and close control dictate the majority of his game. Blessed with blinding pace from the flanks, it is hard for full backs to match up to the Brazilian’s skills. He is a nightmare from the right wing and can make an impact under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United are already heavy favourites to land the services of Bale as Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has lost his patience with the Welshman and is eager to cash in on him while he is still relatively young.
Bale fits the bill as to what Mourinho wants. He has been crying out for a winger ever since the signing of Ivan Perisic failed. The right-wing has also seen the likes of Juan Mata Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan get fielded there.
However, with Bale already an injury concern and priced so high up the charts, Lucas is a bargain for the Red Devils. The Brazilian does not have a lethal left foot to cut in from the right wings but he brings a different dynamic to the final third.
United can not solely rely on Antonio Valencia to deliver from the right-hand side and needs a player like Lucas to complete the attacking lineup with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku next to him.
