Sam Allardyce, the new Everton manager, has made a decent start to his stint at the Goodison Park. His team have a serious chance of qualifying for Europe this season but the manager is adamant that his side needs some fresh faces, before they can compete at the highest level.
The manager has already landed one of the most wanted strikers in world football in Cenk Tosun earlier this month but it is understood that he is not totally convinced with the options in his squad in attack and wants to add yet another striker before the deadline day.
A number of star players are constantly linked with a move to the Goodison Park this January and two players on the top of the manager’s wish list are Celtic star Moussa Dembele and West Ham United star Diafra Sakho. While Dembele is a decent option, is Sakho a player Allardyce should scout for?
Reports from English news outfits claim that Allardyce is ready to do what it takes to land him in January and wants to off-load Spanish star, Sandro Ramirez if he is able to land another striker. The story goes on to reveal that the relationship between Sam Allardyce and West Ham boss David Moyes, could make this move easier. So is Sakho a player that will improve Everton?
Also wanted by Swansea City and Newcastle United, the Senegalese international joined West Ham United back in 2014 but has always played second fiddle in his time in London. He failed to cement a place in the first team under previous manager Slaven Bilic and Moyes is reportedly not too keen on sticking with him in the long term.
Known for his industry and ruthlessness in front of goal, he has 25 goals and five assists in 88 Ligue 1 appearances before moving to England. He also scored 16 goals in 48 PL appearances before the start of the season but has failed to make a single start in the domestic league this campaign. He has two goals in 14 substitute appearances for the Hammers and helped them when the likes of Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll picked up injuries earlier in the season.
At 28, he still can be a great asset for teams in England and could be a decent option for Everton. He is not a typical, target man but is a player who loves to run the lines and disassociate the backlines of his opponents. He is hard to catch and will be a more than a decent option for Everton.
With Tosun in, Sakho is not expected to be the first choice but he might up higher up the order than young Dominic Calvert-Lewin and the struggling Oumar Niasse for the rest of the season. But do you think he is the right man for the Toffees?
