Real Madrid might part ways with their French striker Karim Benzema after his poor run of form this season. The striker has come under a lot of scrutiny from fans and pundits alike and now, some sources are claiming that his days are numbered in the Spanish capital. The 30-year-old is currently out with a hamstring injury but is expected to return before the end of the month.
The French international has made 20 appearances for Real Madrid this season and has scored 5 goals and made 3 assists. His record is not that bad but the concern remains whether he can regain his old form which has seen him score 186 goals for the Los Blancos during his time in Spain.
With his future at Madrid in doubt, let’s take a look at three options for the reigning European champions to consider going into the future.
Edinson Cavani
The 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker has been in red-hot form this season and is part of a formidable front three which has conjured up the most goals in Europe’s top five leagues in this campaign. He has featured in 26 matches for the Parisian club and has scored 25 goals and made 4 assists so far. The Uruguayan international will be a perfect fit at Madrid but will only be a short-term fix to their attacking problems. At 30, he still has a good few years left in him and with players such as Borja Mayoral coming through the youth ranks, Cavani’s age shouldn’t be a huge worry for the Galacticos.
Harry Kane
The record-breaking Tottenham Hotspur forward has put in some fine displays for Spurs this season. He has scored the most number of goals in the calendar year of 2017 and at 24, the English striker still has his peak years ahead of him. He will definitely represent a long-term solution for Real Madrid if they manage to acquire his services in the near future. Kane has featured in 26 matches for Spurs in this campaign and has scored 24 goals and made 3 assists in all competitions. He is undoubtedly the forward that every club would want to possess but any potential move would depend on whether they are able to convince Tottenham into parting ways with their prized asset. So it’s highly likely that the world transfer record might be smashed again if a deal takes place in the near future.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Gabon striker has been in terrific form for Borussia Dortmund in this campaign and is probably going to be a more realistic option for Madrid due to his situation at the club. Aubameyang has fallen out of favour at Dortmund and could be set for a potential departure this month. The 28-year-old has scored 21 goals and made 3 assists in 23 appearances for his club in all competitions. He definitely has the track record to be a big hit in the Spanish capital, if the Los Blancos decided to opt for his services.
