West Ham United will travel to London to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night looking to cap off their festive period fixtures with a victory in the London derby. The Hammers showed tremendous character to come back from a goal down at home to West Bromwich Albion. Andy Carroll’s injury-time winner means that they are out of the relegation zone and securing the three points against Spurs could see them get some safety net between themselves and their relegation rivals. Tottenham also came through some horrid conditions on the pitch to ensure a hard-fought 2-0 away win at the Liberty Stadium in their last outing. They will definitely be up for this game as it is the North Londoners’ first home game of the new year at Wembley Stadium.
Both teams will be confident about their chances of snatching a win in the London derby with star striker Harry Kane set to start the match in what promises to be a highly entertaining game of football. The recent history of the fixture makes a mixed reading for both sides with the Spurs winning three and losing three of their last six encounters with the Hammers. David Moyes is expected to opt for a 3-4-2-1 formation and it remains to be seen how many changes he makes to his West Ham squad for this contest.
3-4-2-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Adrian is set to retain his place in the Hammers goal and might be protected by a back three of Aaron Cresswell, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid. David Moyes has seen his West Ham defence concede 39 goals in 21 league games this season but will be hoping that they can keep it tight at the back against a rampant Tottenham Hotspur side.
Midfield
Mark Noble is expected to take his place in the starting place ahead of Pedro Obiang and may be partnered with Cheikhou Kouyaté at the centre of the park. Arthur Masuaku will resume his duties on the left while Pablo Zabaleta operates on the right flank.
Marko Arnautovic and Manuel Lanzini are set to play just ahead of the midfield four to provide support to their frontman. Arnautovic has been in terrific form recently while Lanzini is in the heart of every West Ham move so the duo will be key if David Moyes’ men are to score on the counter.
Attack
Andy Carroll scored a brace versus West Brom but might have to settle for a place on the bench with David Moyes wanting to freshen things up in the opposition third. Javier Hernandez may lead the lines for the Hammers in the London derby.
