Another heartbreaking loss for West Bromwich Albion fans as West Ham United ran away with a win in the dying minutes of the game. Andy Caroll found himself in acres of space at the far post and smashed in Marko Arnautovic’s cross in the 94th minute.
Alan Pardew was left shocked as the London Stadium erupted with joy, especially after the visitors had an opportunity to win it for themselves just minutes ago. Unfortunately, Olivier Burke completely blasted the open chance over the bar.
The Baggies have dropped 4 points behind Stoke City in the relegation spot while United are rejoicing over a crucial three points at home. They have a game at hand and are still above Southampton in the 16th spot of the points table.
West Ham United Player Ratings :
Adrian – 6/10
Not the busiest day in between the sticks but was dominant over the few loose balls that came his way. A nasty deflection made it impossible for him to reach the shot of James McClean.
Winston Reid – 5/10
Not the best display from the New Zealander with his marking all over the pitch.
Angelo Ogbonna – 7/10
Lead the back line with a domineering performance tonight. Did not allow Salomon Rondon much space in the United box and read the attacks early.
Aaron Cresswell – 6/10
Still a bit unaccustomed to the central role he put in a decent shift.
Pablo Zabaleta – 5/10
Started the game off poorly and could not do much going forward.
Cheikhou Kouyate – 4/10
The holding midfield pairing with Obiang just does not work for the Hammers. Kouyate was again caught completely off the pace of the game.
Pedro Obiang – 3/10
Could barely hold onto the ball or complete a pass. Got overrun defensively on multiple occasions.
Arthur Masuaku – 6/10
Ran rampant down the left flank with quality deliveries into the box but could not exploit the abundance of space he received. Still impressive from the Congolese.
Manuel Lanzini – 6/10
Was much more present today with a lot of energy on the pitch but could not really create clear-cut chances for his side. Got rejected by Foster on a brilliant low driven effort towards the bottom corner.
Marko Arnautovic – 8/10
His confidence is soaring from the last fixture against Bournemouth and reflected well on his game today. Constantly threatened the opposition goal with a few decent chances of his own. Could have scored.
Andy Carroll – 9/10
The man with the golden touch came up big tonight for the Hammers. A determined and hardworking display even without the brace.
Substitutes :
Mark Noble – 8/10
Completely took over the West Ham midfield both offensively and defensively.
Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez – 5/10
Pestered the opposition defence.
