Aston Villa are interested in securing the services of Czech Republic striker Michal Krmencik. According to a recent report in the English press, the Villans are set to go head-to-head with Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Viktoria Plzen striker when the transfer window opens next month. It is believed that both Championship clubs are lining up bids for the 24-year-old who has been in fine form for his club this season.
It is also being reported that Dinamo Zagreb are keeping tabs on Krmencik as well and negotiations with the Croatian club is said to be at an advanced stage. However, both Villa and Wolves can offer the striker with a route into English football when the transfer window commences in January.
Some sources are claiming that Plzen will be willing to do business if an offer in the region of £3m comes in for their prized asset. Krmencik has helped his club climb to the top spot in the Czech First League and has put in some brilliant displays in the European stage as well, scoring two goals in the Champions League qualifiers before netting 3 times in the Europa League for his club. His prolific goal scoring record in this campaign has justified why he is driving so much interest from English clubs and a route to English football might take his career to the next level.
Krmencik has featured in 20 matches for Viktoria Plzen this season and has scored 16 goals and made 7 assists so far. He has also earned 11 international caps for the Czech Republic which has seen him score 6 goals for his nation. He is definitely a striker who has the potential to be a success in English football.
Villa has struggled to score enough goals this season and has been over-reliant on the talents of Albert Adomah, who has scored 12 goals for the Villans this term. However, Steve Bruce is in dire need of a forward who can find the back of the net regularly in their quest to finish in one of the playoff spots in the Championship table. They are currently facing a mini-crisis in the attacking department with both of their forwards Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan out of action for the immediate future leaving Keinan Davis as the only available striker at the club.
It remains to be seen whether the Villans are successful in their attempts to fend off stiff competition from the Wolves and Dinamo Zagreb in pursuit of the Czech Republic forward’s signature.
