Tottenham Hotspur are currently monitoring Ligue 1 winger, Malcolm and are preparing to launch a massive bid in January. Malcolm currently plays for FC Girondins de Bordeaux and have been in sensational form this season.
Rumours surfaced that Tottenham had already seen their bid of £31m get rejected which is claimed to be untrue by Skysports.
The Brazilian’s talents are undeniable and have already been targeted by Jose Mourinho as one of the prospects to replace Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the right wing position.
Malcolm is a product of Brazilian club, Corinthians and primarily developed his game there with 78 appearances for the club. He arrived at Matmut Atlantique on 31 January 2016 for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Ever since his arrival Malcolm has taken the Ligue 1 by storm scoring 7 goals in 18 games while also adding a further 4 assists this season. The Brazilian blood runs deep in his veins judging by the technical abilities he possesses. Standing at just 5 feet 8 inches, the 20-year-old has a knack for breezing past defenders from the wide areas and break down the opposition half whenever he gets the ball.
He has so far appeared 2 times for the Brazilian U-23 side and has a long way to go before he can partner up with Neymar in the senior national team.
A move to the Premier League can seriously accelerate that process if he can find a regular team spot under Mauricio Pochettino. Tottenham are currently in the 5th spot of the points table and are contesting hard against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to finish the season in the top 4.
The Argentinian manager has faced his share of problems in rotating the current squad while competing against elite sides in multiple competitions. With an impressive display in the Champions League, he is eager to add more quality players to face the second half of the season.
Malcolm is an ideal fit for the side going forward and should be one of their priority targets for January.
With the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min in the starting lineup Malcolm can be the perfect addition from the right wing position. Last year’s signing, Moussa Sissoko has been a bust for the Spurs so far and cannot be relied on for consistent performances. Erik Lamela has also found it hard to break into the first team after spending almost 13 months on the sidelines with injury.
Pochettino understands the importance of a strong squad in top-flight football and should be provided with the optimal resources to keep the club’s ambitions alive. However, with an asking price of £50m for Malcolm, will Tottenham go the extra mile and rival Manchester United for the Sao Paulo-born midfielder’s signature?
