Is there a distinct possibility of Atletico Madrid striker, Luciano Vietto ending up in the Premier League? There might just be with West Bromwich Albion listed as one of the interested parties.
Vietto’s career under Diego Simeone has hit a steady halt with just 520 minutes of game time this season. That is less than ideal for a striker who netted the ball 20 times in 48 appearances for the former side, Villareal.
With the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torres chosen primarily over him it is highly unlikely if he’ll feature much for the rest of the season either. The arrival of Diego Costa in the January transfer window will further hurt his chances and therefore a move is imminent for the Argentinian.
West Bromwich Albion are currently struggling in the relegation zone of the Premier League with their winless run stretching to 18 games now. They were completely outplayed by Stoke City in their Boxing Day fixture at the bet365 Stadium. If they want to save their campaign and escape relegation, Alan Pardew needs to infuse some talent and purpose into the team.
The arrival of Vietto can be the answer to some of the problems the club is currently facing. Their strikers, Salomon Rondon and Kal Robson Kanu have not exactly been firing on all cylinders with just 6 goals between them so far.
Standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall, Vietto is as skilfull as he is agile. His technical ability on the ball is what sets him apart from traditional forwards along with an ability to create plays on his own. He might not be the perfect number nine with sensational aerial abilities but he definitely brings a completely different dynamic to the game.
Vietto can take up the role behind the strike force of Rondon or Kanu in the 4-4-2 formation that Pardew currently implements and link up the attacking force together. His presence accentuated with the presence of an experienced English midfielder like Gareth Barry behind him can be the perfect driving force for Pardew’s men to start scoring goals on a regular basis.
After the sacking of Tony Pulis, the Baggies really thought Pardew will be the man to lead them out of this rut, but so far it has not been the case. With a lack of resources, the former Palace manager has struggled to make a significant change into the team.
However, maybe with a fresh seed of investment, the fans can hope for an improved second half of the season.
