This is the final FPL game week of 2017. So, all of your transfers needed to be done by 14:00 UK time on the 30th of December. The reason for the late transfer deadline is because there is no early kickoff.
However, there are six 3 pm kickoffs on the 30th. These are Bournemouth vs Everton, Chelsea vs Stoke, Huddersfield vs Burnley, Liverpool vs Leicester, Newcastle vs Brighton and Watford vs Swansea. The late kickoff on Saturday is Manchester United vs Swansea. There are then two games on Sunday with Crystal Palace vs Manchester City being the early kickoff. And then West Brom vs Arsenal is the final game of 2017.
Here are three players you should sign this week.
Roberto Firmino (8.9)
Despite their defensive troubles, there is no doubting Liverpool’s superb attacking threat. The Reds have already scored an impressive 46 league goals this season in 20 games. Only Manchester City have scored more.
One player who has played a big role in that attacking threat is Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian has been Liverpool’s main striker this season. And despite not being a true number nine he has a very impressive goal scoring record.
He has already scored nine goals and assisted five in the league for Liverpool this season. This impressive goal and assist combo has earned Firmino 106 FPL points this season. 106 points put the Liverpool forward to second on the FPL forwards leaderboard. The only player above him is Harry Kane. However, Kane will cost you considerably more than Firmino at 12.9. So, for the price, you can’t really say no to Firmino when he is the second best forward on FPL this season.
Riyad Mahrez (8.5)
The second player you should sign this week is Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez. The Leicester midfielder will cost you just 8.5 which is pretty cheap for what Mahrez will get you.
So far this season he has scored six goals and earned eight assists in the league for The Foxes. That is an excellent return for a midfielder who costs just 8.5. Also, Mahrez has accumulated 107 FPL points already this season.
This puts him to 4th overall on the FPL midfielder leaderboard. This shows how good a buy he is as the likes of Christian Eriksen and Philippe Coutinho will cost you more than Mahrez on FPL. But they will not get you as many points.
Leicester also play Liverpool this week. While Liverpool’s attack will certainly cause The Foxes some problems, their defence is somewhat questionable and it is likely Leicester could put a few past them. Mahrez is very likely to be involved in those goals.
César Azpilicueta (6.9)
The final player you should sign this week is César Azpilicueta. The Chelsea defender is quite pricey at 6.9. However, he is definitely worth it.
Chelsea overall have the second-best defence in the league this season letting in just 14 goals in 20 games. Which shows that Azpilicueta is not very likely to concede a lot for your FPL side. He has also racked up impressive nine clean sheets already this season.
But what is perhaps most impressive is his assist tally. The Spaniard has managed six assists in the league already this season. All of which have gone to Alvaro Morata making the Azpilicueta to Morata partnership the most profitable in the league. So, not only are you getting a defender who will let in few goals and keep clean sheets, he will also get a fair few assists for you.
