West Bromwich Albion are hosting Everton at The Hawthorns for their Premier League fixture on Boxing Day. With just 2 wins and a staggering 9 losses in the season so far, the Baggies are in dire need of 3 points, which will be hard to come by against a well-drilled side. Sam Allardyce’s impact for the Toffees has been immediate with the side registering zero losses ever since he took over. Relegation fears resulted in both the clubs firing their former managers and it has so far worked for Everton.
They are aiming for a return to the European qualification spot and with their eyes on multiple targets in the January transfer window, they are ready to take on the second half of the season in full force.
West Brom are currently in the relegation zone behind Bournemouth with just 14 points. Their winless run has stretched to 17 games after their weekend loss to Stoke City and Alan Pardew will have to address this fixture with a better tactical approach. So far the current lineup is not working and he might be willing to shift a few pieces around and see if it works.
The predicted lineup for the West Brom in this fixture is 4-4-2.
Defence
Ben Forster is the first choice under Pardew and can resume his duties in between the sticks.
With not much quality options him Kieran Gibbs is expected to start in the left back position with Allan-Romeo Nyom on the right.
Jonny Evans is a hot transfer target for many clubs in the upcoming transfer window and should get the nod for this fixture alongside Ahmed Hegazi.
Midfield
A few changes can be predicted in the midfield position with Nacer Chadli picking up a thigh injury right after coming on for James McClean in the second half. The Belgian was eager to make a return to the starting XI under the newly appointed manager.
McClean might start again down the left wing with Jake Livermore on the right. Matt Philips can make a substitute appearance if included in the squad.
Claudio Yacob is predicted to replace Chris Brunt in the holding midfield position alongside Gareth Barry.
Attack
Salomon Rondon has not exactly been firing on all cylinders this season with just 2 goals in 16 games. However, he is the best scoring threat with the support of Hal Robson-Kanu beside him. The duo work well together and their physical presence will be a threat for the likes of Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams to handle.
