Manchester City took on Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium looking to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to a mammoth 14 points ahead of their rivals Manchester United’s trip to Leicester City. Pep Guardiola’s men have made a near flawless start to this season and are firmly in the driver’s seat in the Premier League title race. The Citizens deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation against the Cherries and their game plan paid dividends as they secured a comfortable 4-0 victory versus Bournemouth through a brace from Sergio Aguero and a goal each by Raheem Sterling and Danilo.
Let’s shed some light on how each Manchester City player fared during the match.
GK: Ederson – 7/10
The Brazilian goalkeeper had little to do in the game but stood strong when called upon. Although, he was guilty of misjudging a ball which almost let Callum Wilson through on goal.
RB: Kyle Walker – 7/10
He was always an outlet on the right flank and tirelessly ran down the channels all throughout the match.
CB: Vincent Kompany – 7/10
The Belgian was once again a reassuring presence in the City backline and passed the ball well which is going to give him immense confidence going forward.
CB: Nicolas Otamendi – 7/10
The Argentine did not have much to defend but he was a threat going forward. The centre-back could have scored in the first-half and had one of his easier games against Bournemouth.
LB: Fabian Delph – 7/10
He linked up well with his team-mates and did not have much to facing the City goal.
CM: Fernandinho – 9/10
The Brazilian defensive midfielder had a breeze at the centre of the park and did not have many Bournemouth attacks to deal with. He was at the heart of every Manchester City move and was one of the stand-out players of the match.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10
The Belgian midfielder tried his hardest but just wasn’t creative enough in the final third. However, he was still an important figure in the City midfield and helped his team cruise to an easy win.
CAM: David Silva – 8/10
The Spanish playmaker passed the ball well and was unlucky not to grab a goal in the match.
RM: Raheem Sterling – 9/10
The English speedster continues to impress netting once in the game and providing an assist for the fourth City goal. He has firmly developed into one of Pep Guardiola’s key men in this Manchester City squad.
LM: Leroy Sane – 7/10
He created space for others but wasn’t up to his usual standards in the final third.
ST: Sergio Aguero – 9/10
The Argentine forward was brilliant and scored a brace to settle the contest in the Citizens’ name. He also marked the occasion scoring his 100th Premier League goal at the Etihad Stadium.
Substitutes:
LM: Bernardo Silva – 7/10
He put in an excellent cross after coming on.
CM: İlkay Gündoğan – 7/10
He came on from the bench and looked assured in the midfield.
LB: Danilo – 8/10
He had little time to make an impact but that didn’t stop him from scoring City’s fourth goal with a clever finish.
