Liverpool trip’s to the Emirates ended in yet another high scoring game, as both teams shared a point each, in a 3-3 draw. Philippe Coutinho’s smart header gave the Reds a lead to take to halftime, which was doubled by Mohamed Salah, who scored his 15th league goal of the season, in the 52nd minute.
However, they dozed off right after the goal, allowing Arsenal to get back into the game, and the Gunners duly obliged, scoring three goals in the next six minutes, to take a 3-2 lead. Roberto Firmino later came up with an equalizer 20 minutes from time as both teams shared the spoils on the night. Liverpool will rue the chances they missed in the first half but here are the player ratings for both sides:
Liverpool Players Rated And Slated
Simon Mignolet (4):
No reason for him to let Xhaka’s equalizer in as he had enough time to deal with it. Could not have done for the other goals but was nervous for most of the night.
Joe Gomez (5):
Did really well to keep Alexis Sanchez in check on the flank but switched off at the wrong moment, which allowed the Chilean into open Arsenal’s scoring.
Dejan Lovren (7):
Probably won every ball in the air and dealt well with the threat of Lacazette and company on yet another solid night for the Croat.
Ragnar Klavan (7):
Hardly put a foot wrong, making a number of interceptions and giving the Arsenal attackers no space or time on the ball in and around the box.
Andrew Robertson (6):
Was constantly out of cover as Bellerin’s overlaps caught him out time and again but was otherwise decent at both ends of the field.
Jordan Henderson (N/A):
Started the game brightly but picked up an injury and was subbed off in the 13th minute.
Emre Can (7):
Did nothing fancy in the midfield, where he was quick to step up to danger and took Liverpool forward with every opportunity, and picked up the assists for Firmino’s goal.
Philippe Coutinho (6):
Had a bright start to the game, but slowly faded away. Smart with his finishing to open the scoring but was hardly seen till he was subbed off in the second half.
Mohamed Salah (8):
Took his tally to 15 goals for the season, 20 in all competitions, as he continues to toy with even the best defences in the country.
Sadio Mane (7):
Should have got a 9 but for his wasteful finishing, which cost Liverpool a couple of points. But he was just impossible to catch, and in all fairness, should have scored a hat-trick.
Roberto Firmino (8):
Scored the all-important equalizer for his side, and played a beautiful pass for Salah’s goal, and was a constant threat to the backline.
Substitutes:
James Milner (7):
Played a good early ball to set Salah on his bike in the build-up to Coutinho’s goal and did well to marshal the midfield, replacing the injured Henderson.
Georginio Wijnaldum (6):
Came on too late in the game to have an effect on the scoreline.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (N/A):
Got just over six minutes on his first trip back to the Emirates as a Liverpool player.
