Liverpool have been linked to Real Madrid midfielder, Dani Ceballos as a possible destination in January. The 21-year-old has mustered just 457 minutes in 23 games for the Galacticos so far this season. Failing to make an impact on the pitch at his current club, Ceballos might be looking to find himself a new club in the upcoming transfer market.
The young holding midfielder had an impressive season in Real Betis where he appeared in 98 matches in 3 seasons. He was also awarded the player of U-21 European Championship ahead of the likes of Marco Asensio and Saul Niguez.
The Spaniard was set to be the replacement for 31-year-old Croatian, Luka Modric at the Bernabeu. His technical ability on the ball with a confident control of the midfield position mimics Modric’s game perfectly. He was part of the club president, Florentino Perez’s vision for more home-grown players in the team.
But ever since his move to the Galacticos for €18m, Ceballos’ career has hit a giant brick wall in terms of growth and the midfielder is reportedly frustrated over his current predicament. Hungry for more minutes on the pitch the 5feet 10-inch midfielder is ready to make a strong case for being called up to the national team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2018.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp is currently dealing with a possible exit of his best playmaker, Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. Defensive-midfielder, Emre Can has also been heavily linked to a move away to Serie A side, Juventus after failing to agree to contract terms with the club. Klopp’s task has been cut out for him to find a replacement for these positions and Dani Ceballos can be one of them.
The Reds are competing heavily against a host of clubs to finish in the top four of the Premier League after falling to an 18 points deficit from league leaders, Manchester City. Their European campaign has been impressive so far but the knockout stages will be no picnic.
With Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson primarily fielded in the holding midfield role, Ceballos can find himself in the attacking midfield role behind Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah. He posses all the abilities to creatively spark the team towards an impressive finish to the season.
Ceballos has also been heavily linked to other European clubs, with rivals, Arsenal heavily invested in the Spaniard. Klopp will have to convince the midfielder with a better deal come January in order to land his services.
