Chelsea, one of the heavyweights of the Premier League, have truckloads of youngsters in their arsenal with some of them possessing immense potential and calibre. Owing to the plethora of superstars at the disposal, it is hard for Antonio Conte to give game time to most of the Chelsea prodigies. Thus, many of them have been plying their trade elsewhere on loan to prove their mettle.
Charly Musonda is one of the promising starlets which the Blues have, and having extended his contract with the London-based outfit until 2022, Musonda has been handed the option to leave the club on loan in the upcoming January transfer window so that he gets the opportunity of polishing himself further. At this stroke of the hour, there is absolutely no dearth of his admirers.
Reigning Scottish champions, Celtic, are one of the frontrunners to make Musonda sign on the dotted line in January, although two other clubs in the shapes of Newcastle United and Roma are expected to give the Bhoys plenty of competition as per one of the reports by the Scottish Sun. Brendan Rodgers has perennially been interested to work with youngsters and it would be wise for him to lure the 21-year-old to the Celtic Park.
Musonda is an attacking midfielder who is capable of playing at either wing and is generally found to be very comfortable with the ball at his feet. He dribbles meticulously, shoots the ball really well and doesn’t commit himself to unnecessary fouls or absurd decisions. He has raw pace in his legs and no wonder why his stocks are so highly rated.
Although he might not be a splendid or accurate passer of the ball, he is generally found to be very industrious in the final third and tries to find the loopholes in the defence of the opposition. Besides, the Belgian has also shown a notable amount of maturity and calmness and what he needs to do at this point of his career is to accumulate more game time under his belt to polish his rough edges adequately.
Celtic are placed at the top of the Scottish Premiership table with 41 points to their name after 17 games. To keep their momentum up and running, Rodgers should be looking forward to making one or two quality additions and by signing someone like Musonda on loan, his purpose could well be served. Besides, he is likely to get opportunities under the tutelage of the former Liverpool manager which should help him to excel further.
