Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Manchester to take on league leaders Manchester City in what promises to be an entertaining game of football on Saturday. Mauricio Pochettino’s side has recently bounced back after a string of poor results which saw them drop out of the top 4 in the league standings. However, Arsenal and Liverpool both failed to pick up maximum points in midweek, and so the Spurs are now back in 4th place in the Premier League table. The recent history of the fixture doesn’t make good reading for the Citizens of Manchester as they have failed to beat Tottenham in their last four league encounters, losing three and drawing one match. This will definitely be a cause for optimism for Spurs fans with Pep Guardiola’s men in superb form in the league this season. They have won 16 of their 17 Premier League matches and are yet to be beaten in the league.
It is expected that Mauricio Pochettino will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might recall Dele Alli, Ben Davies, Kieran Trippier and Mousa Dembélé into the starting line-up. The Argentine manager will be hoping that his Spurs side can pull off an upset to keep pace in the race for the Champions League places this season.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester City
Defence
Hugo Lloris will once again start in goal for the Spurs and might be shielded by a back-line consisting of Kieran Trippier at right-back, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the Spurs’ defence and Ben Davies taking his place at left-back.
Their defence has just conceded 14 goals in 17 league matches so Pochettino will be hoping that his backline can keep the City attackers at bay.
Midfield
The deeper lying midfield duo will be comprised of Harry Winks and Mousa Dembele who will be responsible to do the dirty work and close down the City midfield. The trio of Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen will be tasked to link up play and thread some through balls for Harry Kane to exploit.
A lot will depend on the performance of the Spurs midfielders on the day and whether they are successful in neutralising the likes of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne while also having an effect when in possession to try and create plays for others around them in the final third.
Attack
Harry Kane will be responsible to lead the lines for Spurs and with the English striker in such a rich vein of form, it won’t be easy for Pep Guardiola’s backline to keep him quiet.
