As per latest reports, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has been furious with the Catalan club regarding their pursuit to bring in a new forward. The Uruguayan has reportedly warned the club authority about leaving if they don’t pull the plug on their current intentions to bring in competition for leading the line in the near future.
The malefactor quotient in Luis Suarez had been set into tone since his arrival in the scenario of international football and has also followed him into his club career as well. He was ready to do what others wouldn’t. He was ready to grab the negative spotlight which others would think to be impossible. His antics at the World Cup made him an infamous character and his arrival to Liverpool the following year meant that the media had a new potential box office waiting.
Suarez complied. While one end he scored relentless goals and was almost unplayable, on the other end he made a nuisance of his character by getting into unnecessary fights and petty mischiefs.
Deemed a hero at Liverpool, Suarez made his way into Nou Camp in 2014. At Barcelona, Suarez found himself in the company of the elite and he quickly rose to the occasion to feature in a trio that terrorised defences all across Europe. He spearheaded the “MSN” with Lionel Messi and Neymar playing alongside him and the three forwards wrecked havoc and left defences blazing in their trail.
Neymar has left for a new adventure in Paris where he is seeking to become the world’s best player. Since his departure, things have changed at Now Camp. His replacement Ousmane Dembele has been injured for the majority of the season and while Messi is carrying the mantle of the team like always, Suarez has failed to create the magic of his past years.
His shooting boots are missing and the forward cuts a frustrated figure of a broody teenager when not on form. There have been talks of Suarez leaving Nou Camp with the forward no longer looking like the player he was in the past but given the fact that Barcelona just lost Neymar and Messi is north of 30, having Suarez around for another couple of seasons will be crucial to keep the stability in check at Nou Camp.
Speculations are rife that the current La Liga table toppers are on their way to bring in French marksman Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid to beef up their attacking options in the near future. This might surely be a matter of concern for Suarez as he might fall down the pecking order when it comes to team selection and hence the alleged protest from the Uruguayan Ace.
