Everton are monitoring the progress of Hamburger CV’s young striker Jann-Fiete Arp. It is being reported that the Toffees are among a whole host of clubs looking to secure the services of the 17-year-old forward. Tottenham Hotspur has also joined in on the hunt for his signature after the striker’s remarkable emergence in the Bundesliga this season.
Arp has recently broken into the Hamburger CV first-team and has already recorded his name in the history books after he became the first footballer to be born in 2000 to have played and then scored in the top tier of German football during this campaign.
The Hamburg starlet has found the back of the net 2 times in 8 Bundesliga appearances for his club so far following his rise from the youth level for both club and country which has truly underlined his incredible potential.
The youngster bagged 26 goals in 21 matches for the Hamburg Under-17 team last season before going on to score 7 goals in five international games for Germany’s Under-17 side at the Euros in Croatia. He also found the net 5 times in five games at the FIFA Under-17 Football World Cup in India this year.
Chelsea were interested in the player last summer before his rapid rise to prominence this season and now, Arsenal and Manchester City are also joining in on the race for his signature. Everton boss, Sam Allardyce may look to finally address the void left by Romelu Lukaku in the summer and a move for Arp next month might not be too far-fetched.
The teenage forward’s current contract runs out in 2019 so the competition will only increase from now on, especially if he can keep scoring goals for Hamburg.
He has been compared to the likes of Harry Kane and the teenager has admitted that the Spurs forward is a player he looks up to in a recent interview. He said,
“There are many good strikers that you can learn a lot from by watching. But if there was just one player I had to pick as my role model, it’s Harry Kane. He plays the way I want to play. He’s pacy and very comfortable with and without the ball. It’s difficult to stop him. You need to pay attention for 90 minutes because he can score at any time.”
It remains to be seen if the Toffees can fend off some strong competition from fellow Premier League clubs in pursuit of his signature in the near future.
